HOW TO APPLY
Teachers On Reserve recruits and hires substitute teachers based on the current needs of our client schools. To apply, please follow the steps below.

Steps to become a "Teacher On Reserve"
  • First, you MUST currently reside in California. If you are planning to move to CA soon, please wait until you have arrived.
  • Complete and submit your online application. We cannot consider you for employment until we receive a completed application.
  • Please wait for our recruiting department to contact you. If our client schools require your expertise, please rest assured that we will contact you.
  • Keep us informed of any important updates to your application.
If you are contacted and scheduled for an interview, be prepared to show (if asked):

  • Proof of Identification (Usually, a current Passport OR a current Driver's License and Social Security Card.)
If hired, you must complete the following before starting work:

  • Sign off on required paperwork, including, TOR's Handbook & Employment Agreement and an I-9 form
  • Provide: An official (sealed) transcript of your BA (or higher) OR certified PDF of same
  • 2 Letters of Reference (ideally, describing you as a teacher)
  • Proof of TB Clearance within 60 days of hire.
  • Preschool Teachers must also provide clearance for:
    • Influenza
    • Pertussis
    • Measles
  • A Live Scan (fingerprinting) through the FBI and California DOJ.
    • You will be responsible for processing fee
QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO BECOME A "TEACHER ON RESERVE"

PRESCHOOLS: Required Child Development / E.C.E. units

ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS: Bachelor's Degree

ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS REQUIRING A CREDENTIAL: Bachelor's Degree, California Teaching Credential

SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS: Bachelor's Degree, California Teaching Credential, experience working with Special Education students
